This training provides an overview of the multi-disciplinary definitions and perspectives of the process of Clinical Supervision. It draws from the literature and Best Practices of Social Work, Nursing and Psychology Models. It includes the roles of the Clinical Supervisor, core principles and types of supervision.

Session will discuss the differences between, supervision, therapy and administrative oversight. Practical matters such as time management, schedules and ‘finding the time’ are covered. Ethical and Legal issues are included. Lastly, recommendations on documentation practices are provided.

Continuing Education Credits:

Social Worker CEUs: This training has been approved by the National Association of Social Workers for 2.0 continuing education credits.

Chemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This training has been approved by the RI Certification Board for 2.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate).

Mental Health Counselors CEUs:  This training is pending approval by the RI Mental Health Counselors Association for 2.0 continuing education credits.

1.  Participants will be able to state the working definition of Clinical Supervision from a multi- disciplinary perspective.

2.  Participants will be able to identify the 4 core roles of the Clinical Supervisor.

3.  Participants will be able to state the endorsed core principles of Clinical Supervision.

4.  Participants will be able to discuss some ethical topics appropriate for supervision discussion.

5.  Participants will be to describe methods and techniques of the supervision process with a supervisee.

6.  Participants will demonstrate understanding of appropriate methods of documentation of sessions.
