This training is appropriate for Community Support Professionals and Case Managers.

 

This training focuses on trauma and trauma informed care. It will provide information on the impact of trauma on a person’s functioning, understanding the cultural and social context of trauma, strategies to work with individuals impacted by trauma and cultivating self-care and self-awareness to prevent compassion fatigue.

Chemical Dependency Professionals CEUs: This training has been approved by The RI Certification Board for 3.0 continuing education credits (The RICB is an IC&RC affiliate).

Objectives

Define trauma and trauma informed care.

Appreciate the impact of trauma on client’s functioning across domains.

Recognize through the assessment process those impacted by trauma.

Understand the cultural and social contexts of trauma.

Learn engagement strategies to work with those impacted by trauma.

Learn strategies to help stabilize clients who become activated or dissociated.

Learn to cultivate self-care and self-awareness to prevent compassion fatigue.
